Rain!

Well to start off this week we had interviews with our mission president on Tuesday, then we had trade-offs with the Zone leaders.  While we were on trade-offs Elder Anderson and Elder Pancheri went and helped a member in Lansing with their horses.  Long story short when we met back up that evening Elder Anderson had a sprained ankle and all kinds of scratches and bruises.  Elder Pancheri had rope burns all over his hands he also had all kinds of scratches bumps.  Those poor two have been off the farm too long.  The good thing though was Elder Anderson's sprained ankle only took 3 days to heal to the point where he could walk on it again, but it sure did turn some fun colors!

On Friday we were crazy busy!  We started out on the far left side of our area and we taught a really nice lady by the name of Denise.  Following that we drove to the far right side of our area a half hour away were we taught Mark who is a Sunday school teacher for another church.  He was actually pretty genuine and liked the concept of having a modern day prophet!  We had dinner after that at A&W and got their root beer floats.  They were really good.  I would recommend them.  Our food took forever so we only had 5 minutes to eat before we needed to leave for a lesson.  The lesson was with a less active family we have been working with!  That has definitely been the busiest I have been on my mission so far and I liked it!

On Saturday we had a lesson with Allen.  We showed up and asked him if he had read the Restoration pamphlet and he hadn't because he had a busy week.  We decided for the lesson we were going to read the Restoration pamphlet so we did.  Keep in mind Allen is a classic Michigander talker and in between each page, we read he would talk for about 10-20 minutes.  Long story short we were there for 2 hours, but we shared the restoration and he said that he wishes all the other churches could hear about the restoration!  Before we left we asked him if he would read the introduction of the Book of Mormon and he said he already had.  We were a little confused then he held up his Book of Mormon and his bookmark was a good chunk of the way in. Probably in 2 Nephi if I had to guess!  He then said he was thinking about coming to Church.  And sure enough, when Sunday rolled around, Allen walked in the doors of the church!  Allen has been the first non-member we have been blessed to get to church since I have been here in Holt!

Adventures In Holt

Well, we had kind of a slow week this week.  We had 3 of our friends text us and tell us they weren't interested in us coming over anymore.  For that very reason, we did a lot of finding this last week, but on Thursday I believe we helped a member's nonmember friend move.  They drove the Uhaul truck down a hill then backed up to the basement door.  Keep in mind it had rained all morning and not a little drizzle but buckets of rain.  When they tried to drive the Uhaul truck out they got it stuck in mud up to the axle.  We didn't stick around but they got one of the local farmers around town to bring their tractor and pull the Uhaul truck out.

On Wednesday we had trade offs and we drove way down to this little town called Dansville in our area and we stopped by an old potential and she wasn't home but her son was.  We were able to share a 5-minute restoration with him and he agreed to let us come back!

Tuesday we had a zone conference and we had Elder Hamilton there.  Elder Hamilton is an area seventy and he gave a really cool training talking about eternal life.  The jist of the whole training was baptism is just the first step to reaching eternal life.

Summer Is Here!

This week we didn't have too much happen but we picked up this really cool guy by the name of Jason.  When we showed up to teach him he had read the entire Restoration pamphlet and marked it all up with questions and scripture references.  When we asked him what he thought of it he really related to Joseph Smith and wondered why so many people believed differently but still read out of the same Bible.  When we were talking about prophets we asked him what he would think if there were modern-day apostles and prophets on the earth and he said he would be relieved.  We all about jumped out of our chairs with joy.  When we shared the first vision, the spirit was so strong I know for a fact that Jason felt it.  It's so rewarding to see peoples' joy when they learn about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and feel the spirit for the first time!

On Wednesday we had trade-offs with Meridian and that was a blast!  On Thursday night we got a return appointment with Allen who we have been having a hard time getting in contact with the last little while.  He also said that he had been reading out of the Book of Mormon.  We didn't even have to ask him.  The reason that is so exciting is the only way to get a testimony of the Book of Mormon is to read it!  And he is already doing it!
