Elder Sean Compton: I Have an Accent?!?

On Thursday we went down to a small little town to meet with a recent convert that had moved into our area from Bay City. A little fact about Michigan, there are a ton of dirt roads that don't get plowed in the winter time and Bob happened to live on one of those roads and it had snowed that morning. So it took us forever to find his road because it just looked like the rest of the ground. But fortunately, there were only 2 or 3 inches of snow on the ground so our Chevy Malibu made it just fine. But onto Bob, the sister missionaries in Bay City called us and gave us Bob's information and told us to plan for an hour and a half because he wanted to tell us his story. So we took their advice and it was a good thing because, no exaggeration, he talked for 2 and 1/2 hours and I think me and Elder Wise said a total of 15 words between the 2 of us. But it was okay because he had some really cool stories to tell us about his life and everything from A-Z.

On Wednesday we went to teach Judie who was referred to us by a member she was visiting. Judie is from Colorado and it was really cool talking to her because she was from Colorado and I could relate to her really well. She was talking about the San Luis Valley and I'm like ya I've been there too! But we had a lesson on the Plan of Salvation and it was really interesting watching Judie starting before the lesson and then after the lesson because before the lesson she wasn't very enthusiastic but after the lesson, we all felt the spirit and she was all bouncy and enthusiastic. The only bummer is that is the only lesson we will get to have with her for a while because she is going back to Colorado this week. The missionaries will have to pick up where we left off!

Accents - I never thought I had an accent really but when we were at St Vinnies (thrift store) doing service on Saturday the owner said to me and Elder Wise that she could hear our Western accent and she said that she could hear it a lot more with me. And to add to that, during our lesson with Judie I could hear her western accent and I'm thinking to myself I'm sure glad I don't sound like that. Then I realized wait a minute, I do have that accent and everyone here in Michigan is thinking that about me. Awwwwwwww!
